Vectis Fairway Lodge 8923

Constituted under the United Grand Lodge of England

Vectis Fairway Lodge was formed in 1980 by a number of Masons from mainly Isle of Wight Lodges, and the Lodge celebrated it's 25th anniversary in 2005.

The founding members had a common interest in golfing and they were made up of members of Chine Lodge (The Lodge's Mother Lodge), Sandown, Albany, Yarborough, Spithead, East Medina, Needles, Yar Valley and a number of "Mainland" (the North Island as it is sometimes known, the Island being the South Island) Lodges.

The concecration ceremony was held at the Broadway Park Hotel in Sandown (then under the ownership of a founding member) on Wednesday the 5th of March 1980. The Provincial Grand Master T. Bennet Langton officiated and there were 20 founding Provincial Grand officers, 23 founding members and 88 visitors.

The Lodge Golf competition years ago with Links Lodge used to have a Candelabra trophy which was taken by the wining Lodge until the next game.

The Lodge has it's own Emblem, used on Summons and the Past Masters Jewels, designed by one of the Founders, W. Bro. "Bob" Laugharne which are handed down once Brethren have attained Provincial Rank.

There are now many members who do not play Golf but a number remain and matches with (not against) Links Lodge No. 8431 are not unknown, but now-a-days it is more common just for visiting each others Installation to keep the connection between the Lodges.

Like all Masonic Lodges, we are a very friendly Lodge and are very pleased to welcome visitors to our meetings and in recent years a number of Brethren who have moved to the Island have joined us and become members. We meet at the Masonic Hall in Shanklin. Please contact the Secretary, details below, if you wish to meet us.
