During this turbulent time, the ‘Warrant of the Lodge’ was
secured in a fire and burglar proof safe at the business premises of
member Bro. H. Godwin for the duration of the war.
December 1942 - A married couple, Mr and Mrs Mumford took
on the role caretakers of the Masonic Hall at a salary of £19 p.a.
with quarters, fuel and light.
June 1945 - Heartfelt thanks were given to the Grand Architect of
the Universe for the restoration of peace in Europe and hope that
the war with Japan is brought to a speedy and victorious
conclusion.
At the meeting in December 1945, a circular from Grand Lodge
modified the wartime regulations issued to the Craft in 1939,
including a sub-paragraph “Lodges should meet in Morning Dress
or Uniform, White Gloves should not be worn” (due to clothes
rationing). Although January 1947 saw the withdrawal of these
emergency regulations, white gloves were still not to be worn.
