November 2008 - The Secretary informed the Master Elect Bro.
Philip J. Thorne that he had broken Needles record of time taken
to attain the ‘Chair’, only having been initiated into Needles
Lodge on 7 January 2004 (some four years and ten months). The
lodge had the highest number of visitors at this ‘Installation
Meeting’ numbering 50, the highest number since the ‘Centenary
Meeting’ in 2001 at which there were 57.
March 2009 -At the request of the Worshipful Master the Island
Group of Grand Officers carried out a Ceremony of Raising. On
completion, W. Bro David Perkis presented the Walking Charge.
November 2009 - For the first time since W. Bro. H. H. Lee in
1921, the Worshipful Master W. Bro. Phil Thorne was proclaimed
Worshipful Master to hold office for a second successive year.
June 2010 - In the event of having no ceremony for this meeting,
selected brethren performed several portions of ritual not
generally worked at Needles Lodge.
W. Bro. Wayne Pritchett explained the Master Mason’s Apron.
W. Bro. Peter Cattle delivered The Charge after Raising.
For the benefit of those Master Masons present, the Worshipful
Master gave the Walking Charge.
The lodge was then closed in all three degrees.
At the October 2010 meeting, brethren were informed of the
passing to the Grand Lodge above of W. Bro. I. I. Purkis
following 63 years faithful service to Freemasonry.
At the January 2011 meeting, a ballot took place for a new Lodge
Trustee W. Bro. David Morey. The ballot proved favourable.
